euthanasia

guess this issue has been on my mind a bit, esp after watching million dollar baby... and i just read an article in the papers today that a lady who has been brain dead but kept alive for the past 15 years by a life-support system has actually been ordered to well, die... her husband had actually made a promise to her to keep her alive and he has kept that promise all these while even though he actually had been offered up to US$10 mil to pull the plug... unfortunately, a judge has passed the order 4 the tubes to be disconnected next fri...

but the thing abt mercy killing is... what would u do if u became a vegetable and were paralysed... would u still wanna live on? or would rather die? i guess it would be really hard for me to decide on this, esp when i'm not placed in this kind of situation (fortunately) and it's easy to say what u wanna do but when the situation is placed b4 u and there are so many things to consider... i've never really been a fan of "what would u do if his/her situation" becos basically i know watever answer one may give, it isn't very accurate cos the matter of the fact is, you aren't in the situation, so it's pretty hard to imagine wat its like...

and well i was just told today that i won't understand abt some issue becos i'm not faced with that issue... which is kinda true to a certain extent... but i guess it still does hurt to hear it, esp when it's from someone u really care abt n u wanna show some understanding and concern, but yet u cant really emphatise...
