this is kinda linked to my previous post on euthanasia... cos i think i kinda reported it wrongly...
so this is the case...
the lady i was reading abt is called terri and she's been like paralysed for the past 10-20 years and she's been surviving on this machine which helps to keep her alive.. wats impt is the feeding tube which helps to provide her body with the nutrients she needs
so IT IS HER HUSBAND, who wants the tube removed, becos he felt that that was not the way she wanted to carry on her life... as a vegetable... but based on the reports i read, it kinda gives me the impression that he just doesn't wan to take care of her anymore or its gotta do with $$$... but he has claimed that doctors' test have confirmed that there is no chance of recovery for terri
meanwhile, her parents want the tube to stay the way it is, as they have claimed that they have seen her smile and shown some reaction whenever they go visit her and they hope they she will be able to recover soon
so anyway, the latest is that the judge in the state ordered for the tube to be removed but meanwhile the president has signed an emergency thingy which allows for the tube to be connected back again while they sort things out...
and cos of this incident there has been a rise in the number of people seeking to write their own living wills...
so the million dollar qn is.. if u were paralysed.. would u still wanna live on? or would u rather die?
for me, if it's been certified that i have absolutely no chance of recovery, i guess i'll choose to die... since my brain no longer allows me to feel pain n i won't know wat's going on anyway.. but if there's a chance to recover then hey just take it... but i'm not sure wat's the christian take on this issue though... maybe need to check up more on it...
