one hit wonders

was watching channel v ard 5am+ many days ago... and they actually had a special program dedicated to one hit wonders... one hit wonders were actually defined as "artistes/bands who only have one hit that made it to the top 40 chart... and subsequent singles either nvr had the same success as their previous hit... or they just fade away"

examples? well one which i miss hearing for a while was "what's up" by the 4 non-blondes... remember hearing it when i was in sec sch.. didnt really like it then.. but its many year absence.. it was fondly missed.. another classic was "no rain" by blind melon...

i was trying to come up with a theory... that "the best songs are songs which came from one hit wonders"... but i soon realised that that wasnt necessarily true... for every one hit wonder hit u like.. u prob can come up with another fav which has been from a band enjoying success for years or even decades...

just compare vanilla ice with enimem.. white rappers.. but 2 very different success stories...

so anyway... this is just a small tribute to the one hit wonders who had songs which had short lived success in the music industry...
